It’s our Season 5 Finale, and we’ve gone full circle.

In Season 4 Episode 1, we were joined by Liz McClarnon from Atomic Kitten, who opened our eyes to the idea of no-fly travel: slowing down, seeing more, and treating the journey as part of the holiday.

This episode is the payoff.

Inspired by that conversation, T.A. and Mrs Shelano ditched flying altogether and travelled from Birmingham to Krakow and back by train, covering nearly 2,500 miles across Europe: via Paris, Frankfurt, Berlin and beyond.

In this Season 5 finale, we talk honestly about:

  • What no-fly travel is really like (the good, the bad, and the chaotic)
  • When trains are brilliant, and when they absolutely aren’t
  • Overnight journeys, missed seats, packed carriages and unexpected kindness
  • Why this kind of travel creates stories flying never will
  • And the moment T.A. was told he looked like Tony Soprano on a Polish train

It’s not about being perfect, eco-pure or anti-flight.

It’s about experience over convenience, curiosity over rushing, and what midlife travel looks like when you choose the long way round.

A reflective, funny, and fitting end to Season 5, and a bridge into what’s coming next.
